Two Marion Residents Charged Following Weekend Traffic Stop

McDowell County -- May 7, 2026: A Sunday traffic stop on US-70 East led to the arrest of two Marion residents on drug-related charges.

McDowell County -- May 7, 2026: A Sunday traffic stop on US-70 East led to the arrest of two Marion residents on drug-related charges.

According to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Day initiated a vehicle stop for traffic violations on the eastern stretch of US-70. During the encounter, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and its passengers, which uncovered a quantity of suspected methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia.

Arrests and Charges

The following individuals, who were passengers in the vehicle at the time of the stop, have been charged:

  • Dana Henson Morgan, 41, of Marion: Charged with felony Possession of Methamphetamine and misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was issued a $10,000 secured bond.

  • Darryll Matthew Davis, 40, of Marion: Charged with felony Possession of Methamphetamine and misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Davis was initially denied bond because he was already out on pretrial release at the time of the incident.

The Marion Police Department provided assistance to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office during the investigation and subsequent arrests.
