Henderson County -- On Thursday, April 9, 2026, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office enderson County Sheriff’s Office Animal Enforcement responded to a call for service in reference to a welfare check on a dog.
Below is the News Release from the Sheriff's Office this morning:
Upon arrival, Animal Enforcement officers located an extremely emaciated dog that was tethered to a tree. The dog was immediately taken into custody and transported to a local veterinarian for treatment and care.
During the course of the investigation, Animal Enforcement officers identified Virginia Burrell and Henry Hollenbeck as the individuals responsible for the dog. Both were subsequently charged with Felony Animal Cruelty and are currently in custody at the Henderson County Detention Center.
Animal Enforcement investigates all allegations of animal cruelty thoroughly and seeks justice for mistreated animals when violations of law are found.
Sheriff Griffin extends his appreciation to the Animal Enforcement team and members of the community for their vigilance in reporting concerns that help protect animals in Henderson County.
No additional information will be released at this time. In a court of law, all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Condado de Henderson – El lunes 6 de abril de 2026, la Unidad de Control Animal de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Henderson respondió a una llamada de servicio en referencia a una verificación de bienestar de un perro.
