Henderson County -- April 29, 2026: Two teenagers are in custody following a late-night shooting that claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman at Dana Park earlier this week.
The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office reported that patrol deputies and detectives responded to a report of gunfire at the park at approximately 11:26 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026. Upon arrival, officers discovered Izabella Gamez, 18, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency efforts were unsuccessful, and she later succumbed to her injuries.
Investigation and Arrests
Following a rapid investigation involving crime scene processing and witness interviews, detectives identified and apprehended two suspects in connection with the homicide:
Leron Monteith, 19, has been charged with First Degree Murder.
Sheilah Tong, 18, has been charged with Accessory After the Fact.
Both Monteith and Tong are currently being held at the Henderson County Detention Center.
