Spring at Biltmore runs from March 26 through May 21. The best time to photograph the tulips is mid-April, when they are expected to be at their peak. The tulip season begins in early April with the first varieties opening, and continues through late April with single late tulip varieties.
What to Expect
The Walled Garden is the primary location for the tulip display, with nearly 80,000 tulips. Expect to see Darwin hybrid tulips in early to mid-April and single late tulips in late April. The tulips are planted in patterned beds, creating color combinations.

Complementary spring blooms can also be found while visiting for tulip photography. Orchids in the Conservatory and kobus magnolias bloom in late March. Wisteria blooms under the pergola and azaleas begin their display in late April, with peak azalea bloom expected in early May. The Rose Garden, featuring over 250 varieties, blooms in late May.
