Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charge in Macon County

Macon County -- April 12, 2026:On April 10, the Macon County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit, along with detectives, conducted a traffic stop.

Macon County -- April 12, 2026: On April 10, the Macon County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit, along with detectives, conducted a traffic stop on a female driver along U.S. 64 East near Nickajack Road for observed traffic violations, according to the Sheriff's Office.

During the stop, deputies observed what appeared to be an open container of an alcoholic beverage in plain view inside the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted, and the driver was questioned. K9 Jade alerted on the vehicle, leading to the discovery of what officers suspected were illegal narcotics.

Macon County Animal Services was contacted after deputies observed multiple dogs inside the vehicle.

Erin Eastburn was charged with: -Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (methamphetamine), according to court records -Possession of Drug Paraphernalia -Open Container Violation

*Suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
