since the rivers overflowed their banks,
since our hearts broke open like shattered glass across Western North Carolina. 💔
But here’s the truth that time reveals:
From brokenness, beauty rises.
From ruin, resilience blooms.
From grief, a deeper love takes root. 🌱❤️
We remember the Day the storm took everything.
We remember the silence afterward—
the aching quiet of loss,
the sacred question whispered by every soul: How do we begin again?
And then—hands appeared.
Hands carrying water.
Hands lifting trees from the streets .
Hands holding one another when words failed. 🤝🏡
We discovered healing not in forgetting,
but in building, together.
We discovered that when one house rises,
an entire village begins to breathe again.
We discovered that love is stronger than any storm. 💙
Today, as we stand close to the this anniversary,
we honor not only what was lost,
but what was found:
a family called community,
a movement called radical love,
a truth that healing belongs to all of us. 🌎✨
To every neighbor, every volunteer, every heart that chose compassion over comfort—
you are the story.
You are the proof that hope is not fragile.
You are the reminder that unity is our strongest shelter.
Because together, we rise.

BeLoved Asheville began with a small group of people who believed that we need each other and that we can do far more together than we can do alone.
Believing that we all need a village, BeLoved’s central focus is community.
We listen to people. We walk with people. We strengthen the fabric of our community by celebrating and struggling alongside our friends and neighbors, moving towards solutions that build upon the assets we see all around us.
From that small seed, thousands came bringing their energy, their gifts, their hopes, and dreams. Our community has grown into a powerhouse organization making a significant difference here in Western North Carolina. Food access, deeply affordable housing, racial equity, healthcare on the streets, cultural celebrations, enrichment, and school supplies for our kids – we dream towards possibilities and strive to show up together and be whatever our community needs, whenever the need is there.
In 2009, we embarked on a journey to create a transformational way of life rooted in community, working to foster Home, Health, Equity, and Opportunity for all in our mountain home. We recognize that these focus areas are fundamental to building a just and equitable society, and we are committed to working with our community to find innovative and compassionate solutions to the tough challenges that our city, region, and world face today.
