The decision was made public Monday in a statement posted to the brewery's social media, where the owners expressed gratitude for the dedication of their staff and the strong support from the Western North Carolina community.
"We’ve faced challenges that make it no longer sustainable for us to keep our doors open," the statement read, adding that the choice "was not made lightly."
🗓️ Final Weeks: Beer, Food Trucks, and Specials
The brewery plans to continue serving its craft beers at both the Asheville and Swannanoa locations through the end of December. However, operations will see changes in the final weeks:
The kitchens at both sites will shut down earlier than the final closing date.
The Swannanoa location will transition to hosting food trucks throughout the month of December to continue offering a food option. Customers are encouraged to watch for the food truck schedule.
"We still have plenty of delicious brews in our inventory, so come and enjoy Terra Nova beer while you still can, and keep an eye out for specials," the team urged.
🤝 Seeking Opportunities for Staff
In a commitment to its workforce, the Terra Nova team is actively working to connect its staff with new employment.
"We want to express our deepest gratitude to... our staff who rode this rollercoaster with us to the end," the company wrote. They encouraged other business owners in the area who are looking for experienced, "top-tier bartenders" to reach out directly to the brewery.
Terra Nova Beer Co. has two locations: a South Slope spot in downtown Asheville and a taproom in the historic Beacon Village in Swannanoa.
