Asheville -- A man died following a pedestrian accident on Airport Road. The Asheville Police Department is investigating the collision.
Andrew Robert Angstead, 31, died on Saturday, April 4, 2026, after being struck by a vehicle the previous evening. The incident occurred around 8:41 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026, in the 70 block of Airport Road in South Asheville.
Incident Details
Angstead was reportedly attempting to cross Airport Road when he was struck by an eastbound 2024 Kia Sportage. He was transported to Mission Hospital, where he died from his injuries on Saturday. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
The Asheville Police Department (APD) is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. Preliminary investigation indicates Angstead was crossing the street at the time of the collision. Further details are under review.
