Shooting Under Investigation in Swain County, Search for Suspect

Sawin County -- November 6, 2025: The Swain County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred this morning on Hyatt Creek Road near the intersection of Walker Woody Road.

The incident has resulted in at least one serious injury and has prompted an extensive search for a suspect. One person injured,. One person was injured in the incident. WLOS reported that the injured individual was flown from the scene to Mission Hospital.

The Sheriff's Office has confirmed this is an ongoing investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

Road Closure and Multi-County Vehicle Search

As a result of the active investigation, Hyatt Creek Road is closed until further notice, and residents are advised to avoid the area.

In terms of evidence, one vehicle involved in the incident is being processed at the scene on Hyatt Creek Road. Further complicating the investigation, WLOS stated that a second possibly involved vehicle was located in Jackson County.

Law enforcement asks the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as the search continues.

At approximatley 9:50 am the following: The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is assisting Swain County Sheriff's Office with the shooting that occurred on Hyatt Creek this morning. The suspect vehicle was located in Jackson County by our Deputies. Two residences were searched and the suspect was not located. We are not sure if the suspect is still in the area. The suspect is Luis Alfredo Reynosa DOB: 12/09/2001. We do not have a vehicle description at this time. Please see the attached photograph of the suspect.
