Buncombe County -- August 25, 2025: Press Release: Buncombe County Parks & Recreation began the process for its Systemwide Parks & Recreation Master Plan back in 2023, and it was well underway when Tropical Storm Helene changed our landscape. Although the development of the plan was interrupted as staff focused on restoring parks that were damaged by the storm, Buncombe County is ready to return to its efforts and establish goals and a vision for our parks, recreation, greenways, trails, and open space system.

But that vision may look different than it did last year – so we’re launching a brief survey to reassess your needs and priorities for our parks system in the wake of the storm’s impact. You can find the survey at engage.buncombecounty.org/parksmasterplanfinalsurvey

Our Systemwide Parks & Recreation Master Plan will outline the goals of and vision for our parks system, while also identifying how well it serves the community and establishing priorities for improvements. Your responses to this final survey will be used to update and evaluate the assessment that was informed by the community’s previous input, ensuring that our Systemwide Parks & Recreation Master Plan reflects Buncombe County as it is today.

The survey closes on Friday, September 26.
