Resolve to be Ready: Join Henderson County’s CERT Training

Henderson County -- January 5, 2026: Kick off 2026 with a new kind of resolution—being prepared! This New Year, Henderson County is inviting residents to commit to something truly empowering: gaining the skills to protect yourself and your neighbors when it counts.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program is opening its first training session of the year on January 23-24, offering a unique opportunity to learn life-saving skills in disaster preparedness and response.

A Professional Edge to Volunteering

CERT is more than just a basic safety course; it is a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training that professional responders rely on. By educating volunteers on fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations, the program creates a "force multiplier" for our local emergency services.

When disaster strikes, trained CERT members can handle basic response tasks, allowing professional firefighters and EMS personnel to focus on the most complex and life-threatening situations. Through this partnership, the community’s collective ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters is significantly enhanced.

A Place for Everyone

One of the most vital aspects of the CERT program is its inclusivity. Individuals of all abilities are welcome. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned volunteer, there is a role for you. Disaster resilience requires a diverse range of skills—from hands-on assistance to organizational support and communication—ensuring that everyone can contribute to making their neighborhood self-sufficient during an emergency.
