A fire at the Hickory Nut Gap Farm Store in Fairview late Wednesday was quickly contained, thanks to the prompt actions of an employee and the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department. Their efforts prevented significant damage to the structure.
An employee noticed flames while leaving the property and immediately called 911. Fire Chief Scott Jones confirmed visible flames on the building's exterior upon arrival. Additional fire crews responded swiftly and were able to control the blaze. Farm owners and staff assisted in securing the site.
“Had this employee not noticed the fire or had this fire started after they had left, the outcome would have definitely been much worse,” according to a department statement.
Fire officials emphasized that the early detection of the fire was crucial in limiting the damage. The fire was contained to the exterior of the building, with no reported impact to the interior or its contents.
