Asheville -- October 6, 2026: A pedestrian was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries early Tuesday morning after being struck by a pickup truck along a busy stretch of Patton Avenue.
Officers with the Asheville Police Department responded at approximately 6:03 a.m. on Oct. 6 to the intersection of Patton Avenue and Florida Avenue following reports of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, emergency responders located the injured individual, who was immediately transported to Mission Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
According to preliminary findings released by the Asheville Police Department, the pedestrian was crossing within the designated crosswalk with the right of way when the collision occurred.
"The preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was in the crosswalk with the right of way when struck by a 2015 Ford F-250 pickup truck," said Rick Rice, Public Information Officer for the Asheville Police Department.
The driver of the F-250 stayed at the scene following the crash and cooperated with authorities. Officers cited the driver for failure to yield.
Westbound traffic on Patton Avenue was restricted to a single lane for approximately one hour while emergency crews rendered aid, cleared the roadway, and documented the scene. All lanes have since reopened.
The Asheville Police Department stated that the investigation remains active and ongoing.
