Weaverville -- June 16, 2026: A massive piece of Weaverville’s industrial history is getting a modern, high-energy makeover. A 132,000-square-foot industrial facility located just minutes from downtown Weaverville is being transformed into a sprawling sports and entertainment hub, headlined by the upcoming Ballcrank Pickleball Club (BPC).
The premier indoor pickleball facility is slated to officially open its doors late this summer, bringing a year-round, weather-proof home to Western North Carolina’s exploding community of players.
Revitalizing a Historic Industrial Space
The facility, located at 115 Reems Creek Road, is well-known to locals as the former long-time headquarters of the Balcrank Corporation, which operated out of the building from 1982 to 2015.
Now, the massive complex is being completely rebranded as the Ballcrank Arcade & Fairgrounds (BAF). The pickleball club will anchor the property, claiming over 30,000 square feet of the revitalized footprint.
According to Keith Davis, CEO of Ballcrank Pickleball Club and owner of the BAF complex, the vision extends far beyond a few sports courts. Davis noted that several additional commercial leases are currently in various stages of development to fill out the rest of the 132,000-square-foot building. The ultimate goal is to establish a vibrant ecosystem of recreational, hospitality, and cultural businesses that will serve as a major draw for both residents and visitors heading to nearby downtown Weaverville.

The Ballcrank Pickleball Club was founded by a group of local residents who recognized a severe shortage of dedicated, climate-controlled spaces for the sport in the region.
The club will feature:
12 indoor courts equipped with premium cushioned surfaces to reduce joint impact.
State-of-the-art lighting designed specifically for high-visibility sports tracking.
Expansive indoor and outdoor lounge areas designed for socializing, food, and beverages.
Player accessibility is built directly into the business model. Once open, courts will be accessible to the general public on a standard "pay-as-you-play" basis, alongside a monthly membership tier for frequent players seeking perks and advanced court reservations.
A Focus on Local Community
Ruben Kellam will step into the role of general manager for BPC, bringing a philosophy centered heavily on local engagement and community health.
"Pickleball has always been about more than just the game for me – it's about building community, competition, and connection," Kellam shared in a statement regarding the announcement.
