May 11, 2026: A local man is facing felony drug charges following a law enforcement response to a residence in the Nebo community last week. On Wednesday McDowell County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a home in Nebo regarding reports of a suspicious person on the property.

McDowell County -- May 11, 2026: A local man is facing felony drug charges following a law enforcement response to a residence in the Nebo community last week.

On Wednesday McDowell County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a home in Nebo regarding reports of a suspicious person on the property. The suspect was located upon arrival and identified as Michael Dale Honeycutt, 47.

According to officials, a subsequent search of Honeycutt’s person led to the discovery of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

As a result of the incident, Honeycutt has been charged with:

  • Felony Possession of Methamphetamine

  • Misdemeanor Second Degree Trespassing

Honeycutt was taken into custody and issued a $10,000 secured bond.
