Mitchell Co. Firefighters Hold Line; 30% Contained, No Damage

Mitchell County -- May 19, 2026: Fire crews battling the 30-acre Battle Mountain Fire in Mitchell County have successfully prevented any damage to homes or structures, despite the containment level holding steady at 30%.

While the 30% containment figure has remained unchanged, the achievement of preventing further spread and protecting structures is a success. Firefighters continue to work, monitoring the fire's perimeter, extinguishing hot spots, and strengthening existing containment lines.

NCFS has announced crews will remain on scene. The investigation into the cause of the fire continues.
