Marion Man Faces New Felony Drug Charge During Warrant Service

Colby James Kelly, 33, of Marion, was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine after being found hiding in the woods. This occurred while deputies were attempting to serve other warrants at a nearby residence.

McDowell County -- September 14 , 2026: A Marion man faces a new felony drug charge after being found by deputies who were attempting to serve other warrants at a nearby residence. Colby James Kelly, 33, of Marion, was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine after deputies located him hiding in the woods.

On August 30, deputies were at a residence in or near Marion to serve outstanding warrants, a call came in from communications that a neighbor reported a suspicious male hiding in the woods near the home. Colby was foun in a wooded area nearby. After detaining him, methamphetamine was discovered, leading to the new felony charge.
