Man Sentenced to 12 Years for Trafficking Meth

McDowell County -- October 1, 2025: Yesterday, 49-year-old Shannon Jerome Carroll was sentenced to a minimum of 150 months and a maximum of 207 months in prison.

Carroll pled guilty to 2 counts Felony Trafficking in Methamphetamine; Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine; Felony Possession of Methamphetamine; and Felony Maintain a Vehicle, Dwelling or Place for Controlled Substance.

On Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, Detective Matt Smith initiated a traffic stop on Carroll in the West Marion area for traffic violations. He was also found to have outstanding warrants against him.

A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up trafficking amounts of methamphetamine and items consistent with distributing them.
