Man Faces Multiple Drug Charges & Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling

McDowell County -- November 6, 2025: On Oct. 9, the sheriff's office responded to a Marion residence for a weapons complaint. The victim stated that someone was shooting close to their residence the prior night, and bullet holes were found inside the victim’s house.

An investigation by the department determined Jayson Michael Gibson fired the weapon that was responsible for the damage.

Once apprehended, Gibson was found to be in possession of suspected amounts of methamphetamine and marijuana. The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 45-year-old Jayson Michael Gibson of Marion with the following:

• Felony Possession of a Firearm by Felon

• Felony Discharging a Weapon into an Occupied Dwelling

• Felony Possession with Intent To Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Marijuana

• Felony Possession of Methamphetamine

• Felony Possession of Marijuana

Gibson was issued a secured bond of $125,000.
