Buncombe County -- August 17, 2025: August 17, 2025 Deputies from the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a gunshot wound at 10:06 PM on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 1990 Old NC 20 Highway in Alexander.


When deputies arrived, they found Jason Gary Cole, 43, of Weaverville, dead from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Following the inquiry, Weaverville resident Patrick Tucker Wood, 35, was taken into custody and accused with second-degree murder. At the moment, Mr. Wood is being held at the Buncombe County jail without bond.
