Edmonds was taken into custody on Monday, October 6, following an investigation that began on September 26. He was subsequently charged with indecent liberties with a student.
The investigation was launched on September 26 at the request of Madison County High School officials. According to a statement from Madison County Schools Superintendent Will Hoffman, Edmonds was immediately suspended from his position at the high school on the same day the investigation began.
Superintendent Hoffman stated, “We are aware the Madison County Sheriff’s Department filed criminal charges against Mr. David Edmonds, a Madison High School employee. On Friday, Sept. 26, Mr. Edmonds was suspended immediately so the matter could be investigated by law enforcement and the school system. We will continue to cooperate and work hand-in-hand with the sheriff department’s investigation into this matter.”
Due to confidentiality laws, the school system stated it cannot provide any additional information regarding the matter.
Edmonds was issued a $20,000 secured bond. Court records indicate that Edmonds posted bond or made a financial agreement for a temporary release from jail on October 7 at 1:30 a.m. His next scheduled court date is October 21.
