Macon County Sheriff’s Office Wraps Up "Operation Safe Summer" Sex Offender Compliance Check

Macon County -- October 9, 2025: The Macon County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), in partnership with the United States Marshals Office, has concluded the investigations stemming from a major sex offender registry compliance operation conducted in late May.

On May 27, 2025, the agencies launched "Operation Safe Summer," an extensive effort to verify the residential addresses and compliance of all registered sex offenders in Macon County. With over 100 registered sex offenders in the county, the operation was a significant undertaking for law enforcement.

Officers from MCSO and various assisting agencies divided into teams to cover multiple zones across the county over the course of two full days. The primary goal was to ensure all registered offenders were consistently complying with the conditions of their registration as required by law.

"Operation Safe Summer" resulted in the discovery of several violations, each requiring its own separate, thorough investigation. The Macon County Sheriff's Office recently wrapped up the last of these investigations, ensuring all findings were addressed.
