Macon County -- July 17, 2026: After hours of public comment and debate over privacy, government surveillance and public safety, the Macon County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday night to eliminate county funding for the Flock Safety automated license plate reader camera program.The board approved the measure in a 5-0 vote, removing approximately $47,000 from the county budget that had been allocated to support the AI-powered camera system. Commissioners then approved a second un
