U.S. Forestry National Forests in North Carolina -- April 7, 2026: This afternoon, firefighters and aircraft are responding to the Looking Glass Fire on the Pisgah Ranger District, located 4 miles northwest of Pisgah Forest, NC, near State Hwy 276.
The Forest has closed trails and forest roads for the safety of both firefighters and public, including:
-Looking Glass Rock Trail and trailhead
-FS475 Davidson Road
-FS475B Headwaters Road and associated trails accessed from this road
Visitors should remain out of all closure areas. Emergency vehicles and smoke may impact traffic through the State Highway 276 corridor, so drivers should use extra caution in this area. This is an emerging fire, and additional updates will be provided when we have them.
