McDowell County -- January 16, 2026: A Marion man is facing multiple felony charges following an investigation into a theft in the Montford Cove area earlier this month.
The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office arrested Daniel Shane Robbins, 36, after linking him to the theft of firearms, tools, and metal components from a local residence.
The Investigation
The case began on Tuesday, Jan. 6, when Deputy Chris Dvorak responded to a report of a theft. The victim informed deputies that several high-value items had been removed from his property, including:
Three firearms
A Milwaukee M-18 impact wrench
Several radiators
Following the initial report, detectives launched an investigation that led them to a local pawn shop. Authorities determined that Robbins had not only stolen the items but had also allegedly attempted to sell a portion of the stolen goods to the business.
Charges and Bond
Robbins has been formally charged with the following:
Felony Larceny of a Firearm
Felony Obtaining Property by False Pretense
Robbins was taken into custody and issued a $19,500 secured bond.
Suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
