WNC -- April 17, 2026: Western North Carolina is waking up this Saturday, April 18, with a massive lineup of community festivals. From the tech-heavy displays in Asheville to the deep-rooted heritage of Waynesville, there is something for every generation to enjoy.
If you are looking to get out and explore the region, here is where you need to be:
Hendo Earth Fest (Hendersonville)
Now in its 4th year, this festival transforms downtown into an educational playground focused on sustainability.
When: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Where: South Main Street (between Allen and Caswell Streets), Hendersonville, NC 28792.
What to expect: Opening remarks at the Visitor’s Center (10:30 a.m.), an electric vehicle show, and over 50 exhibitors.
Pro-Tip: Ride your bike! The Blue Ridge Bicycle Club is offering a free bike valet.
Maker Faire Asheville
This is the ultimate "show and tell" for the curious mind, featuring everything from robotics to traditional blacksmithing.
When: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Where: Mission Health/A-B Tech Conference Center, 16 Fernihurst Drive, Asheville, NC 28801.
What to expect: Interactive science displays and creative tech. While the event is free, organizers suggest an RSVP to help with the headcount.
Appalachian True Heritage Festival (Waynesville)
Waynesville celebrates its roots with a two-day event (starting Friday night) that focuses on authentic mountain culture.
When: Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Where: Downtown Waynesville (Main Street near the Arch), 16 S Main St, Waynesville, NC 28786.
What to expect: Live heritage craft demonstrations, regional musicians, and storytelling. It’s a perfect walk-and-shop event for families.

BuildFest (Boone)
If you are heading toward the High Country, BuildFest is the region’s premier STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) event for children.
When: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Where: Watauga High School, 300 Go Pioneers Drive, Boone, NC 28607.
What to expect: 100 hands-on activities, a "Touch-a-Truck" area, and the famous "Cardboard City."
