WNC -- We often see law enforcement alerts and scroll right past them, but a recent post from the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office carries a weight that’s hard to ignore. Sheriff Ricky T. Buchanan issued a stark reminder: "Stay away from illegal drugs—your life depends on it."

The New Name You Need to Know: Cychlorphine
There is a new synthetic opioid making its way through the region called Cychlorphine. It is reported to be significantly stronger than fentanyl. While it hasn’t been officially documented in McDowell County yet, it has already been linked to overdose deaths in East Tennessee and detected in South Carolina.
What's scary is it's often mixed into other substances without the user ever knowing. In a world where drugs are being chemically engineered to be more potent, the margin for error has essentially disappeared.
