Laughter Across the Blue Ridge: WNC Comedy Guide for Feb & March

WNC -- February 10, 2026: While Asheville often steals the spotlight, the comedy scene across Western North Carolina is proving that you don’t have to head to the city to find a stage and a mic. From the historic theaters of Haywood County to the equestrian hubs of Polk County, here is your guide to the best stand-up and improv hitting the region this February and March.

Waynesville & Haywood County

Haywood County is a heavy hitter for performing arts this season, with local venues offering everything from "dark comedy" plays to touring stand-up acts.

  • HART Theatre (Haywood Arts Regional Theater):

    • Feb 20–22, 27–28 & March 1:The White Chip. Directed by Pasquale LaCorte, this dry, witty, and deeply human play follows a theater director whose life is spinning out of control. It’s a "laugh-to-keep-from-crying" kind of night.

    • March 20:Ethnically Ambiguous. A comedy showcase featuring a lineup of diverse voices that tackle identity and culture with sharp, observational humor.

  • The Scotsman Public House:

    • Keep an eye on their local calendar for mid-week open mic nights. It’s the best spot in town to see regional comics testing out new material in a cozy, pub-style atmosphere.

Hendersonville & Polk County

Hendersonville has quietly become a comedy destination, thanks to a mix of brewery-based shows and high-end resort entertainment.

  • Don't Tell Comedy (Hendersonville):

    • Feb 20 & March 21: This unique series keeps the location and the lineup a secret until the day of the show. Past venues have included everything from bike shops to hidden lofts.

  • Tryon International (Mill Spring):

  • Feb 14:Valentine’s Day Comedy Night. Featuring Jas Gill and Josh Phillips. This fan-favorite duo specializes in storytelling and crowd work, making it a solid choice for a date night.

  • Trailside Brewing Co:

    • Regularly hosts "Slice of Life Comedy" nights. Their open, industrial space provides a high-energy backdrop for touring regional comics.

  • Sylva & Jackson County

    • O'Malley’s Pub & Grill:

      • This remains the primary hub for comedy in Sylva. They frequently host "Comedy Nights" featuring performers from the Southeast circuit. It’s raw, energetic, and usually packed with a mix of locals and students.
