Town of Lake Lure -- Great News For the Town of Lake Lure! The Town Government shared the information on Social Media Friday!
Dated March 29, 2026: Lake Lure is on the Rise! The current lake level is about 985 Mean Sea Level (MSL), 4.5 feet below full pond which is 990.5 MSL. Crews from the North Carolina State Mission Assigned Recovery Task (SMART) Program are working around the lake to help us remove any remaining debris and beautify the shoreline. Thank you for your support as we make these final preparations before we hope to be reopening in late May! Stay tuned for official r announcements scheduled for 5/15/26
Town of Lake Lure, NC Public Works crews removed about 400 cubic yards of debris earlier this month.
The SMART Program Contractors have a skimmer and will be collecting debris that may have floated into the water as it rises. Crews will be collecting debris within about 5 feet from the shoreline.
SMART crews removed approximately 400 cubic yards of debris last week and will make additional rounds around the lake as it continues to rise.
