Jackson County -- May 9, 2026: A routine traffic stop in Jackson County escalated into a significant drug bust on May 6, 2026, thanks to the alert of a specialized K9 unit. Senior K9 Deputy Ares of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office played a vital role, leading deputies to seize approximately 49 grams of suspected methamphetamine and other illegal items along U.S. 441 near Ridge Point.

Jackson County -- May 9, 2026: A routine traffic stop in Jackson County escalated into a significant drug bust on May 6, 2026, thanks to the alert of a specialized K9 unit. Senior K9 Deputy Ares of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office played a vital role, leading deputies to seize approximately 49 grams of suspected methamphetamine and other illegal items along U.S. 441 near Ridge Point.

The incident began when deputies conducted a traffic stop. Following Ares' alert to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, deputies obtained a probable cause warrant to conduct a search. The subsequent search yielded a substantial amount of suspected methamphetamine, 7 grams of suspected THC marijuana wax, narcotic paraphernalia, a Mossberg Maverick shotgun, and $602 in cash.
