Jackson County -- April 22, 2026: A proactive traffic stop by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) resulted in multiple felony arrests and the removal of dangerous narcotics from the streets this week.
On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, deputies with the JCSO Criminal Suppression Unit (CSU) intercepted a vehicle on US-74 in the Sylva area. During the encounter, investigators established probable cause to conduct a thorough search of the vehicle.
Narcotics and Currency Seized
The search yielded a significant quantity of illegal substances and cash. According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies located and seized:
13.2 grams of suspected fentanyl
20.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine
$379.00 in U.S. currency
Arrests and Charges
Two individuals were taken into custody following the discovery.
Chad Lawrence Calhoun faces a lengthy list of charges, including:
Trafficking in Fentanyl (Possession and Transportation)
Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver (PWIMSD) Methamphetamine and Fentanyl
Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling for Controlled Substances
Resisting a Public Officer and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Anna Elizabeth Parton was also arrested and charged with:
PWIMSD Fentanyl
Possession of Methamphetamine
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Both individuals were transported to the Jackson County localized detention facility.
Suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
