Asheville -- April 14, 2026: For over a century, the corner of Charlotte Street and McCormick Place has been synonymous with the crack of the bat and the smell of hot dogs under the moniker of McCormick Field. Today, that tradition enters a new chapter as the Asheville Tourists officially announced a naming rights partnership with HomeTrust Bank, rebranding the historic site as HomeTrust Park.
The announcement marks a significant milestone in the stadium's $38.5 million renovation project, ensuring that professional baseball remains a staple of Western North Carolina for decades to come.
A Century of Tradition Meets a Local Powerhouse
The partnership feels like a natural fit for the city. Both the Tourists and HomeTrust Bank are Asheville institutions with deep roots:
The Tourists: Playing in Asheville since 1915.
HomeTrust Bank: Celebrating its 100th anniversary as a hometown financial pillar.
"McCormick Field has a soul that you can't find in modern stadiums," said Tourists President Brian DeWine. "Partnering with a local company like HomeTrust allows us to preserve that history while providing the modern amenities our fans and players deserve."
Renovations and the Road Ahead
The renaming comes as the stadium undergoes a massive transformation to meet Major League Baseball’s updated facility standards. Key upgrades include:
Expanded dugouts and modernized clubhouses.
Improved lighting and turf systems.
Enhanced fan experience areas designed for year-round use.
While the "McCormick" name will be missed by long-time residents, the investment secures the team's PDL (Player Development League) license, keeping the Houston Astros' High-A affiliate firmly planted in the mountains.
Opening Day Countdown
Fans won’t have to wait long to see the new signage in person. While the Tourists started their 2026 campaign on the road, the gates at HomeTrust Park will swing open for the highly anticipated home opener on April 21, 2026.
The stadium is also slated to host the Big South Baseball Championship this May, signaling its evolution into a premiere multi-use venue for the region.
For many, it will always be the house that Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, and Jackie Robinson once graced, but as of today, the future of Asheville baseball belongs to HomeTrust Park.
