Asheville -- September 16, 2026: A recent fatal collision on Tunnel Road in East Asheville, where a preliminary investigation finds high speed was a factor.
Officers responded to a motor vehicle collision with injuries in the 290 block of Tunnel Road around 2:44 a.m. on September 12th, a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by Joshua Gregory Reed (08/31/1998) was traveling east on Tunnel Road at a very high rate of speed when the vehicle overturned and struck a utility pole. Reed was transported to Mission Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries; next of kin has been notified.
