The Henderson County Code Enforcement Services division announced the 2026–2027 Abandoned Manufactured Home Removal Program, which runs through June 30, 2027. The effort aims to clean up rural and residential properties across the county by eliminating hazardous, rundown structures that pose fire risks, attract pests, and lower surrounding property values.
How the Program Works
Standard Cost-Share: The county’s winning demolition contractor provided a base quote of $4,850. Under the standard grant terms, the county covers half, leaving the property owner responsible for a $2,425 match.
Full Coverage for Qualifying Incomes: For applicants with an individual annual income under $40,000, Henderson County will cover the entire demolition cost, meaning zero out-of-pocket expense for the homeowner.
Additional Cost Factors: The base price covers single units weighing up to 20,000 pounds. Costs increase if the home exceeds that weight limit, has structural additions such as attached porches, or is filled with leftover personal contents and debris.
Environmental Impact: The program helps safely dismantle derelict trailers, recycle scrap metal, and ensure building debris is disposed of properly under state environmental standards.
