Haywood County -- November 3, 2025: Press Release Haywood County Government: The Haywood County Board of Commissioners’ November Regular Morning Meeting was held on Monday, November 3rd, at 9:00 AM.

1. Consent Agenda (passed)

-Approval of the October 20, 2025, meeting minutes.

-Approval to declare 94 old duty weapons as surplus and trade them into AmChar Wholesale, Inc., which holds the state contract for law enforcement firearms and ammunition.

-Approval of a $10,653 budget amendment for the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office to accept and appropriate funds from the sale of surplus firearms, which will be used to replace aging pistols.

-Approval of a budget amendment for Public Safety in the amount of $5,100 to accept and use the annual donation for printing the Sheriff's Office calendars.

-Approval of a $147,580 budget amendment for Public Health to accept federal funding from the NC Division of Public Health to strengthen core public health services and the local workforce, including salary reimbursement for current staff, purchasing needed supplies, and providing staff training.

-Approval of a $42,875 budget amendment for Public Health to accept funds from the NC Division of Public Health for salary reimbursement, staff training—including car seat installation certification—purchasing car seats for families in need and providing medications to patients who cannot afford them.

-Approval of a $543,863 budget amendment for Public Health to accept funds from the NC Division of Public Health to restore essential public health functions and support disaster recovery, including purchasing Starlink satellite internet equipment and service, Viper radios for emergency communication and shelter operations, and oxygen concentrators and other medical equipment to better serve the community.

-Approval of a $111,616 budget amendment for Public Health to accept COVID-19 emergency recovery funds from the NC Division of Public Health to reimburse salaries for existing staff, support training, and purchase clinic and lab equipment and supplies.

-Approval of a $6,000 budget amendment for Public Health to accept federal funds from the NC Division of Public Health to support implementation of the Electronic Test Ordering and Results (ETOR) system, which will streamline test ordering and result reporting for local health departments across North Carolina.

-Approval of a $35,525 budget amendment for the Extension Office to appropriate additional revenue to support the Master Gardener program.

-Approval of a $50,000 ADM/Lottery Fund budget amendment to accept funds from the NC Department of Public Instruction for planning and designing the sewer line expansion to the Tuscola Ag building; once the design is approved, DPI will release construction funds.

3. Regular Agenda (passed)

-Approval of a resolution supporting Operation Greenlight for Veterans. The Haywood County Historic Courthouse will be illuminated in green throughout the month of November in honor of veterans.
