Buncombe County -- October 3, 2026: Buncombe County residents in need of over-the-counter health supplies will have access to free medications this month through the NC MedAssist Mobile Free Pharmacy Program.

Buncombe County — October 3, 2026: Buncombe County residents in need of over-the-counter health supplies will have access to free medications this month through the NC MedAssist Mobile Free Pharmacy Program.

The annual community initiative is open to anyone looking to stock their home medicine cabinet or pantry. No identification, pre-registration, or appointment is required to receive items, making the event entirely accessible to the public.

A wide variety of common over-the-counter remedies and supplies will be distributed, including:

  • Allergy relief

  • Cough, cold, and flu treatments

  • Pain relief medications

  • Daily vitamins and supplements

  • Children’s medications

  • First-aid and digestive aids

  • Homebound individuals who cannot attend directly may have a friend, caregiver, or family member aged 18 or older pick up supplies on their behalf.

    Supplies will be distributed through two separate options:

    • Online Pre-Order: Online ordering is currently open and runs through October 16. Pre-ordering guarantees your requested items will be set aside for pickup at the distribution site. You can place an advance order directly through NC MedAssist.

    • In-person distribution: Friday, October 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Bounty & Soul Community Center, located at 216 Whitson Avenue in Swannanoa.
