Former Rep. Madison Cawthorn Arrested in Florida

September 11, 2025: Former North Carolina congressman Madison Cawthorn has been arrested in Florida on charges related to his failure to appear for a court hearing.

The arrest, which occurred recently in Collier County, is connected to a previous citation for driving without a valid license.

Cawthorn, who represented Western North Carolina's 11th congressional district for one term, was cited last month by Naples police for the traffic violation. When he failed to attend his scheduled court arraignment, a warrant was issued for his arrest. He has since been released on bond.

Since leaving his congressional seat, Cawthorn has been involved in multiple legal and public incidents. These have included other traffic violations and a number of controversies that drew national attention during his time in office.

The recent arrest comes amid past speculation about a potential return to politics for the former lawmaker. While he has not officially announced any plans, his legal troubles continue to be a subject of public scrutiny.
