On the evening of December 15, Macon County deputies received a tip that Chandler Lennon, who was known to have active outstanding warrants, was located near the McDonald’s on Georgia Road.
Recognizing the potential for the suspect to flee, deputies coordinated a joint response with officers from the Franklin Police Department. As law enforcement arrived and began clearing the interior of the restaurant, Lennon exited the building. When officers attempted to take him into custody, Lennon reportedly ignored commands and fled on foot.
The Arrest and Discovery
The foot pursuit was short-lived. Law enforcement quickly overtook Lennon and apprehended him, bringing the situation to a safe conclusion without further incident.
However, the investigation continued at the scene of the chase. While canvassing the area where the pursuit began, deputies discovered a winter glove believed to have been dropped by Lennon. Discovered near the glove were:
Three pieces of aluminum foil (two folded, one showing burnt residue).
A white powdery substance found inside one of the foil wraps.
Charges and Testing
Following his transport to the Macon County Detention Center, authorities conducted a field test on the recovered powder. The substance yielded a positive indication for fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid.
