Where the money is being directed
The released funds are divided into two primary categories. The first is the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, which is the specific fund used for home buyouts and elevations. This pot of money totals 44.6 million dollars in this initial round.

Buncombe County: 14.2 million for property acquisitions.

The second category is Public Assistance, which totals 72 million dollars. These funds are designated for community repairs that have already been completed or are currently underway. This includes 34.7 million for road and bridge repairs across the mountains, 17.6 million for debris removal in Rutherford County, and 10.5 million for the city of Asheville to assist with water treatment plant repairs and road work.
