Rutherford County -- March 27, 2026: Two individuals were arrested on March 19, 2026, following a targeted investigation by the Rutrford County Sheriff's Office (RCSO) Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team. The search of an Ellenboro residence led to the seizure of a significant cache of narcotics, multiple firearms—including several reported stolen—and a police badge.
The Investigation and Arrests The operation began with surveillance on a residence on Shires Road, leading to a traffic stop of Shannon Nicole Morgan, 33, of Ellenboro. Deputies reportedly found 11 grams of methamphetamine during the stop. A subsequent search warrant executed at the residence led to the arrest of Jesse Frank Gonzales, 37.
Evidence Seized Authorities uncovered approximately one pound (435.2 grams) of methamphetamine and 44 grams of a fentanyl/methamphetamine mixture inside the home. The firearms seized included:

Some of the weapons were confirmed as stolen, with links to prior cases from both the RCSO and the Forest City Police Department. Notably, a Forest City Police Department badge was also recovered. The RCSO has not yet released details regarding the origin of the badge.
Charges and Bond
Shannon Nicole Morgan faces charges including two counts of trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking fentanyl, and maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for controlled substances.
Jesse Frank Gonzales is charged with trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl, possession of a stolen firearm, and violation of a domestic violence protective order involving a deadly weapon.
Both suspects are currently being held with no bond.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."
