For locals and visitors looking to make the most of the season, Asheville Parks & Recreation has rolled out its official autumn schedule. From neighborhood trick-or-treats and creative craft nights to indoor rock climbing and adult athletics, city community centers and parks offer activities for all ages.

Signature Fall Festivals & Free Community Gatherings

These events are free and open to the public without advance registration:

  • Costume Swap & Creative Reuse Workshop: Saturday, October 17, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Stephens-Lee Center (30 George Washington Carver Blvd.). Hosted with Asheville Sustainability, Buncombe County, and ReMix It AVL. Bring an old costume, pick up a new-to-you outfit, or create upcycled creature crafts to keep textiles out of local landfills.

  • Día de Muertos Celebration: Saturday, October 24, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Stephens-Lee Center (30 George Washington Carver Blvd.). A vibrant family celebration honoring loved ones with traditional crafts, music, food, face painting, and a community ofrenda.
