Henderson County -- May 16, 2026: An East Flat Rock man and woman are facing serious felony charges in Henderson County after their 22-month-old child was hospitalized in critical condition with severe injuries.
The child is currently receiving treatment at Mission Hospital in Asheville, according to the Henderson County Sheriff's Office.

The father, Hector Armando Romero Castillo, 30, has been charged with felony child abuse. He was taken into custody in Louisiana and is awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
The mother, Lorena Magdaly Rodriguez Granados,35, has been arrested. She faces charges related to accessory and obstruction of justice.
