Transylvania County -- June 24, 2026: Press Release Transylvania Sheriff's Office: The Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office, working in partnership with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), has arrested a Transylvania County man following an investigation involving the sexual exploitation of a minor.
On June 24, 2026, Alan Jay Perez was arrested and charged with:• Second-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor• Third-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor
Perez is currently being held at the Transylvania County Detention Facility under a no-bond status pending further court proceedings.
Sheriff Chuck Owenby stated, "These types of crimes will not be tolerated in our community. Protecting the children of Transylvania County remains one of our highest priorities, and we will continue working diligently with our law enforcement partners to investigate and prosecute those who exploit children."
