Catawba County -- July 15, 2026: Authorities have launched an investigation following the tragic drowning death of a toddler at a residence on High Ridge Circle late Monday evening.
Emergency Response
At approximately 9:12 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, deputies from the Catawba County Sheriff's Office Road Patrol were dispatched to the home. They were swiftly joined by personnel from Catawba County EMS and the Maiden Police Department.
First responders arrived to a reported drowning involving a two-year-old child and immediately initiated life-saving measures.
Tragic Outcome and Ongoing Investigation
Despite the exhaustive efforts of emergency medical personnel and law enforcement, the child was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.
Following the initial emergency response, the Catawba County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) deployed to the residence and assumed control of the scene.
