Asheville -- August 20, 2026: Asheville is set to host a powerful cultural celebration as the Legacy Neighborhoods Coalition presents its inaugural, free two-day festival. Bringing together residents, former residents, extended families, and neighbors from across the region, the gathering honors the rich heritage, creativity, and enduring spirit of five foundational Asheville communities: Burton Street, East End/Valley Street, Emma, Shiloh, and Southside.

  • Friday, August 28: 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM

  • Saturday, August 29: 12:00 PM (Noon) – 10:00 PM

  • Admission: Free and open to the public

Honoring History, Inspiring Action Since 2019, the Legacy Neighborhoods Coalition has worked alongside grassroots leaders and longtime residents to safeguard community identity, preserve local history, restore visibility to overlooked stories, and champion equitable civic investment across Asheville.

The festival serves as both a joyful celebration and an intergenerational bridge. Generations of families built the faith, culture, music, entrepreneurship, and mutual care networks that shaped modern Asheville. This weekend provides a dedicated space where elders and leaders can pass those traditions directly to younger generations, ensuring these historic neighborhoods remain vibrant places where future families can live, lead, and thrive.
