Buncombe County -- July 2, 2026: Residents interested in playing an active role in the 2026 General Election will have several opportunities to learn more about the election process through a series of public information sessions hosted by Buncombe County Election Services.
As the nation marks America's 250th anniversary, county officials are encouraging community members to participate in the democratic process by serving as poll workers, becoming poll observers, or simply learning more about how elections are conducted in Buncombe County.
Poll Worker Information Sessions
Election Services is seeking poll workers for both Early Voting and Election Day. Positions are available for adults and qualified students, and unlike many people assume, poll workers are paid for their service.
During these sessions, attendees will learn about the responsibilities of poll workers, training requirements, expected time commitments, and compensation.

Elections Director Information Session
Residents who want a behind-the-scenes look at how elections are administered are invited to attend a special presentation by Elections Director Corinne Duncan.
The session will include an overview of the election process, information about the Election Services team, and an opportunity for attendees to ask questions.

Poll Observer Information Sessions
Political parties may appoint poll observers to monitor voting activities at polling locations. Only observers officially designated in advance by a political party are permitted inside polling places during voting.
These information sessions will explain the qualifications, appointment process, responsibilities, and guidelines governing poll observers in Buncombe County.
