Funding Overview
The county has committed $1.2 million annually for a three-year grant cycle starting in FY2027. This funding is distributed through two specific streams:
Safety Net Funds: Supported by County dollars and contracted directly through Buncombe County. The annual amount may vary based on budget availability.
MOE Funds: Supported by County dollars but passed through to Vaya Health, with a fixed annual budget between $600,000 and $1,200,000.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for these grants, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Organization Type: Must be a non-profit or for-profit organization.
Service Area: Projects must directly serve residents of Buncombe County.
Alignment: Proposed projects must align with the County’s identified health priorities.
Deadline: Applications must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on February 27.
Funding Structure: Grants may be awarded as partial funding or as a combination of both funding streams.
