Bucombe County Sheriff's Office Identifies Swannanoa Pedestrian Found Dead on Road

Buncombe County -- June 12, 2026: Press Release Buncombe County Sheriff's Office: On June 8, at approximately 11:00 PM, the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, along with Swannanoa Fire, Buncombe EMS, and the North Carolina Highway Patrol responded to what was reported as a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian at 1916 US Highway 70 in Swannanoa.

Buncombe County -- June 12, 2026: Press Release Buncombe County Sheriff's Office: On June 8, at approximately 11:00 PM, the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, along with Swannanoa Fire, Buncombe EMS, and the North Carolina Highway Patrol responded to what was reported as a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian at 1916 US Highway 70 in Swannanoa.

A man was found lying in the roadway with serious injuries and was transported to Mission Hospital, where he later died. The victim has been identified as 71-year-old Saeid Mohammad Khoshnoud. The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, is investigating a death that occurred on June 8, around 11:00 p.m. on US Highway 70 in Swannanoa. This case is an active investigation, and we will provide additional information as we are able.
