Asheville -- October 19, 2026: Brother Wolf Animal Rescue has reached another defining milestone in its long road to recovery, announcing an upcoming community gathering to unveil official floor plans for its future adoption center.
The event takes place on Thursday, October 22, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Highland Brewing’s Event Center, located at 12 Old Charlotte Highway in East Asheville. The gathering is free, unticketed, and open to the entire public.
The rescue lost its original campus on Glendale Avenue during Tropical Storm Helene in late September 2024, when severe flooding along the Swannanoa River submerged and destroyed the facilities. Through the emergency efforts of staff, volunteers, and foster families, more than 130 animals were evacuated to safety before the surge. Brother Wolf has spent the last two years operating through community foster networks, partner shelters, and mobile outreach while planning a permanent, resilient return.
In May, the organization officially secured a new home on Tunnel Road—the former site of Black Dome Mountain Sports—moving operations to higher ground well out of flood danger.
Attendees at Thursday’s celebration will get a first look at the layout and architectural vision for the new facility, including redesigned pet housing, dedicated intake spaces, and adoption areas designed to serve homeless animals across Western North Carolina.
