A routine response to a call this morning near Burrell Avenue and Peace Drive quickly escalated into a high-speed pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies, after a Brevard Police Department (BPD) officer was assaulted and their patrol vehicle was stolen. The incident began when a BPD officer was attempting to detain an individual. During the process, the officer was struck in the face, sustaining minor injuries. The suspect, identified as Ramae Cynquan Foster, then took the city vehicle and fled the scene.
Multi-Agency Pursuit
BPD officers, including the assaulted officer, immediately began pursuing the stolen vehicle, which traveled from Brevard into the Mills River area. As the pursuit continued, a coordinated multi-agency response was activated, bringing in support from:

PIT Maneuver Ends Standoff
The dramatic chase concluded near Exit 53 on I-26, where Henderson County Sheriff’s Deputies successfully utilized a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver to disable the fleeing vehicle.
Fortunately, no one was injured as a direct result of the PIT maneuver. However, the suspect reportedly resisted deputies before being taken into custody and arrested.
